Artist statement
A photograph is only the first layer.
Ren Navarro is a Mexico City–based photographer and mixed-media artist working with architecture, landscape, and the unstable line between memory and documentation.
Silver-toned images are cut, folded, veiled, and rebuilt with paper and graphite. The finished works feel precise from a distance and quietly physical up close.
